Italy trip - part 2: Venice

We arrived to Venice late in the afternoon, and we saw some sun again! After accomodating at the camp near Venice, we went to for the first exploration walk - another fact about Italy (this one is particularly about Venice): Maps don't work. We got lost and found so many times, and we were lost even when we thought where we were (what a sentence Marty)! It was fun trying to orient in the mix of short narrow streets and canals, as we were passing by other lost tourist on our way, some of them more than once.

Drying wet clothes (=all clothes). / Fantastic NEW SWIMMING POOL which was closed because of bad weather! (I would show them what's bad weather!)

After shower.

Bus to the Venice main island. Another facts about Italy: Nobody speaks English, stop signs and red lights have no meaning.

Wrong way, turn around!

Graffiti competition.

Mmmm.. where are we?? / The main square at dusk.

Main square. / One of the three bridges crossing the main canal.

Italian pizza! (before - after)

Day3
Sunny day! We took an-hour-long water us journey through the main canal of Venice from one end of the city to the other.

Gazillions of Japanese tourists in expensive gondolas.

After getting off the boat, we realized Venice was flooded! Because of poor sewage system, everytime it rains a lot the city gets flooded. We were lucky to experience it!

Water. / Pigeons.

Italian ice-cream.

Italian fruit market. / American pizza.

Getting lost on the way back to the bus main station.

Having a well-deserved rest after exhausting but enjoyable walk.

Bye bye Italy - Dolomites again.

To add a little spice to our journey back to Jönköping, the bus from Nyköping was full! But we are in Sweden, so the bus driver called called a taxi that took us for free to the next stop, where we joined the bus after a few passangers got off..

And to add even more spice, we chose the cheapest way to get from JKG centrum to Råslätt at 03:30 at night - Bike and inline skates! (Thanks to: Second hand shop for inline skates; Pavel for lending his bike and bringing it to cenrum; Anicka for dragging me up the hill!)

Better than Scotland!
